Bill overview
This bill prohibits state agencies from awarding contracts to companies or individuals who have recently donated to political campaigns or committees. Beginning 18 months after the law’s enactment, state agencies must require contractors to attest that their principals haven’t made qualifying donations within a specified timeframe. Violations could result in contract cancellation and a three-year ban from future state contracts. However, certain agreements, like loans and grants, are exempt, as are smaller contractors.
