Bill overview
This bill modifies existing law to provide greater civil immunity to owners and operators of sport shooting ranges in Michigan. Specifically, it shields these ranges from liability and prosecution for noise-related issues if they comply with existing noise control laws and generally accepted operation practices, even after upgrades or expansions. It also allows existing ranges to continue operating even if they don’t immediately meet new local ordinances, and permits necessary repairs or modifications to non-conforming structures.
