Bill overview
This bill increases the notice period a landlord must provide to a tenant before terminating a tenancy for nonpayment of rent. Currently, landlords must provide a 7-day or 14-day notice, but this bill raises that to 24 hours. The bill also clarifies that notice must be equal to the interval between rental payments and specifies that a landlord can terminate a tenancy if a tenant or someone under their control has manufactured, delivered, possessed, or intended to deliver a controlled substance on the property, provided a police report has been filed. The bill amends existing law regarding estate termination notices.
