Bill overview
This bill prohibits employers in Michigan from taking adverse actions against employees, such as hiring, firing, or harassment, if those actions are based on the employee being a victim of a violent crime, attending related legal proceedings, or requesting reasonable job adjustments to accommodate their situation. Employers are required to post a notice informing employees of these protections and may face civil fines for violations. Employees who experience discrimination can sue for relief.
