Bill overview
This bill creates the Developing Effective Policies on Orderly Removal and Transportation (DEPORT) Task Force, a group designed to advise the legislature on policies related to the deportation of undocumented immigrants. The task force will be composed of representatives from various law enforcement agencies and local government officials across Michigan. It will be responsible for making recommendations to the legislature regarding deportation policies, training law enforcement, and assisting the Department of Homeland Security in identifying undocumented immigrants within the state’s criminal justice system. The task force is scheduled to be dissolved one year after its members are appointed.
