Bill overview
This bill requires public and nonpublic schools in Michigan to implement mobile panic alert systems starting in the 2025-2026 school year. Schools will use state funds to acquire these systems, which must connect local and state law enforcement, school staff, and first responders for real-time coordination during emergencies. Schools with existing compliant panic alert systems can apply for an exemption, but failure to comply or receive an exemption could result in ineligibility for school safety grants.
