This bill extends the residency requirements for members of the Newton Police Department, Fire Department, and Fire Alarm Division. Currently, these employees must reside within the city of Newton. This legislation maintains and reinforces the existing policy requiring these public safety personnel to live in the city they serve, strengthening community ties and ensuring a deeper understanding of local needs. The bill was signed into law as Chapter 83 of the Acts of 2025.
