Bill overview
This bill seeks to establish an Indigenous member on the Massachusetts Historical Commission. Currently, the Commission does not include any representatives from Massachusetts’ Indigenous tribes. Adding an Indigenous member would ensure that historical preservation efforts in the state consider and incorporate perspectives and knowledge relevant to the state’s Native American heritage. The goal is to promote a more inclusive and accurate understanding of Massachusetts’ history.
