Overview
This bill would exempt sales of fish and other seafood sold in their original, unmanufactured state by licensed commercial fishermen or vessel owners from Alabama’s state sales tax. It also allows counties and municipalities to choose to exempt these sales from their local sales and use taxes as well. The goal is to reduce the tax burden on seafood producers and consumers. The bill takes effect on September 1, 2026.
