Overview
This bill creates a new deduction for Alabama taxpayers on their state income tax returns. Specifically, it allows individuals to deduct up to $1,000 per year for qualified overtime income they earn during the taxable year. The bill also suspends the state sales tax on food for a two-month period starting in May 2026 and makes technical updates to existing tax code. It also introduces an optional standard deduction for taxpayers.
