Overview
This bill, known as the Safeguard Alabama Voter Engagement (SAVE) Act, requires Alabama voters to register their political party affiliation before voting in primary or primary runoff elections. It prohibits voters registered with one party from voting a ballot from a different party at these elections. The bill also mandates the Secretary of State to retain voter history information and update voter registration forms to include party affiliation options, while repealing a previous law restricting crossover voting. It also requires political parties to publish candidate qualifications on their websites.
