Overview
This bill expands hiring and promotion preferences for veterans and their families in Alabama state service and for political subdivisions and private employers. Specifically, it requires the spouses of active duty service members to receive the same five-point preference currently given to veterans’ spouses of discharged veterans. It also authorizes counties, municipalities, and private employers to offer similar preferences to veterans, spouses of veterans, and spouses of active duty service members. Finally, the bill includes technical revisions to update the existing code language.
