Overview
This bill proposes to exempt sales of fish and other seafood from Alabama’s state and local sales taxes. Specifically, it would exempt the gross proceeds from the retail sale of fish when sold by an angler or fisherman in its original, unmanufactured state. Local counties and municipalities would also be able to exempt these sales from their local sales taxes with a local government approval. The bill is set to take effect on September 1, 2026.
