Overview
This bill clarifies the process municipalities must follow when imposing new or increasing taxes or fees. Currently, municipalities can levy these charges through ordinances or resolutions. This bill requires that any new or increased tax or fee must be enacted through a specific ordinance, and that a public hearing be held with at least 30 days' notice before the ordinance is considered for adoption. The notice must detail the proposed changes and provide access to the ordinance.
