Overview
This bill amends Alabama’s cosmetology and barbering regulations to exempt natural hair styling from licensing requirements. It removes ‘braiding and weaving hair’ from the definition of ‘cosmetology’ and eliminates the need for a ‘natural hairstylist’ license, provided individuals meet certain qualifications. Students in cosmetology programs can also obtain a voluntary natural hairstylist license. The bill also makes technical updates to the existing code language.
