Overview
This bill establishes a system for sick leave donation and sick leave banks within Alabama’s public education system. It requires the State Board of Education to create a model policy allowing direct sick leave donations between employees, and mandates that educational authorities implement this policy. The bill also creates sick leave banks and provides for ‘catastrophic sick leave’ to be used in cases of serious illness, and revises the duties of sick leave bank committees. It aims to provide greater flexibility and support for educators facing illness.
