Overview
This bill creates a new crime in Alabama called ‘interference with a first responder.’ It defines this crime as approaching within 25 feet of a first responder (law enforcement, firefighters, or EMS) who has been instructed to stay back, and then impeding, threatening, or otherwise harassing them. Violations of this law will be treated as a Class A misdemeanor. The bill also clarifies that this law does not apply to obstructing an arrest.
