Overview
This bill restricts restaurants in Alaska from providing prepared food in polystyrene foam disposable food service ware like containers and cups. The state is also prohibited from using such materials. However, the bill includes provisions for exemptions and allows restaurants to continue using polystyrene foam if they obtained it before the law’s effective date, as well as allowing the state to continue using it if purchased prior to the effective date. The law also encourages reuse of food service ware instead of disposable options.
