Overview
This bill amends Alaska’s criminal code to clarify and strengthen the definition of sexual assault. Specifically, it expands the definition to include instances where a health care worker engages in sexual penetration or contact with a patient during professional treatment, even if the patient is unaware of the act. The bill also broadens the circumstances under which sexual assault can be charged, including offenses against individuals who are mentally incapable or in the offender’s care. Finally, it establishes a timeframe for when these changes will take effect.
