Overview
This bill aims to improve patient safety by requiring healthcare providers in Alaska to offer patients a prescription for an opioid overdose drug when prescribing opioids. Specifically, a prescription for more than a three-day supply, a high daily opioid dosage (50mg equivalent), concurrent prescriptions for benzodiazepines, or a history of overdose or substance use disorder will trigger this requirement. The bill updates Alaska’s state statutes to reflect this new provision.
