Overview
This bill modifies how local school districts contribute financially to charter schools in Alaska. Specifically, it adjusts the calculation of the administrative costs that a district can retain from charter school funding, clarifying that facility costs are separate. It also expands the possibility for local school districts to make voluntary contributions to charter schools, allowing them to contribute up to the equivalent of a two-mill tax levy or 23% of the district’s funding needs. The bill also defines ‘local contribution’ more broadly.
