An Act relating to certificates of fitness for employees of an electric utility.

This bill modifies Alaska’s requirements for employee certifications related to electrical work. It exempts employees of electric utilities, and their local municipal or tribal government counterparts, from needing a certificate of fitness if they work in areas without cities or municipalities exceeding 2,500 residents, or in areas not connected to other parts of the utility’s service area that include such cities or municipalities. The bill also clarifies that employees of local governments performing work for utilities must be ‘qualified’ based on demonstrated skills and training.
