Overview
This bill directs the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to establish a statewide plan for testing for microplastics in the environment, including water, soil, fish, and wildlife. It also mandates that DEC create and publish a microplastic testing schedule and, by January 1, 2029, provide a report to the legislature detailing a statewide microplastic strategy plan. This plan will include testing results, an assessment of environmental and human health impacts, sources of contamination, reduction methods, and recommended policy changes.
