Overview
This bill requires all public school districts in Alaska to establish a personal finance education program for students in grades nine through twelve. The program, approved by the Department of Education, must cover topics such as budgeting, credit, taxes, insurance, and Native corporation finances. Schools will need to offer this program, either through dedicated courses or as part of existing curriculum, and students will need to complete it to receive a high school diploma. Students transferring into a district after completing grade 10 may be exempt.
