Overview
This bill changes how Alaska’s Public Records Act handles audio and video recordings, as well as other types of records. It expands the definition of ‘record’ to include audio and video recordings, and clarifies that municipalities and the Department of Public Safety can charge requesters for the actual personnel costs associated with fulfilling public records requests, including searching, reviewing, redacting, and copying. The bill also updates the definition of ‘public records’ to include drafts and memorializations of conversations.
