Overview
This bill restricts the use of certain types of fishing gear, specifically trawl and dredge nets, in Alaskan waters. These nets often come into contact with the seafloor, which can damage marine habitats. The bill also directs the Department of Fish and Game to conduct a comprehensive study on the impacts of this type of fishing gear and to report its findings to the legislature by January 1, 2027, including recommendations for potential restrictions or prohibitions.
