Bill overview
House Bill 2044 modifies Arizona law regarding the abandonment or concealment of dead bodies. It makes it illegal to knowingly move a dead human body or parts with the intent to abandon or conceal them. However, the bill includes exceptions for authorized handling of remains and for the mother of an unborn child before twenty weeks of gestation. Violations of this law carry penalties ranging from a class 5 felony to a class 2 felony depending on the circumstances.
