Bill overview
House Bill 2106 allows counties with a population over 400,000 to levy a transportation excise tax, up to 20% of the existing transaction privilege tax rate. The tax can be applied to electricity and natural gas usage. Revenue collected will be deposited into either the regional transportation fund or a public transportation authority fund, depending on the county’s population, and will be used for transportation projects within the county. The bill also establishes an emergency clause, making it effective immediately.
