Bill overview
House Bill 2159 allows Arizona landowners to obtain permits to trap or otherwise take Mexican wolves on their private land and leased public lands used for grazing. The Arizona Game and Fish Department will establish rules for a voluntary program that compensates landowners for humane trapping of these wolves. Permits will be issued based on a determination that they are needed to minimize conflicts between wolves and humans or property, and to provide regulated hunting opportunities.
