Bill overview
This bill updates Arizona law regarding public nuisances and defamation. It allows the Attorney General, county attorneys, and city attorneys to take legal action in court to stop activities deemed public nuisances, particularly the sale of obscene materials near schools, parks, and residential areas. If the Attorney General initiates a lawsuit based on a public nuisance that is later found to be without merit, they could be held liable for defamation. The bill also defines penalties for knowingly maintaining or failing to address a public nuisance.
