Bill overview
House Bill 2279 aims to establish limited liability protections for commercial river outfitters operating in Grand Canyon National Park. The bill clarifies that outfitters aren't responsible for inherent risks of river trips, which can be outlined in contracts. However, outfitters are not immune from liability if their negligence is gross or if they fail to disclose known hazards to participants. Participants can also voluntarily release the outfitter from liability through a signed agreement.
