Bill overview
This bill temporarily suspends Arizona’s motor fuel tax, also known as the ‘use fuel tax,’ from May 1st to September 30th of each year. The goal is to provide a partial financial offset to the state due to the use of its highways. During this period, consumers won’t pay the usual fuel tax, and suppliers won’t be able to add it to the price of fuel. The bill also adjusts how state highway funds are distributed between counties and cities, and provides a one-year exemption from rulemaking for the Department of Transportation regarding the implementation of this tax holiday.
