Bill overview
This bill changes Arizona law to require more frequent reviews of children in the state’s dependent care system (DCS). Specifically, the court must hold periodic review hearings at least every six months after a child’s initial placement. These hearings will involve notifying relevant parties, including foster parents, the child’s parent or guardian, and the child themselves, and require the Department of Child Services to file a detailed report outlining the child’s placement, services, and progress toward case plan goals. The court will also consider the child’s health and safety and whether reunification services have been adequately pursued for young parents.
