Bill overview
This bill updates Arizona law to require individuals applying for state or local public benefits to provide documentation of their lawful presence in the United States, such as a driver’s license, birth certificate, or passport. It also expands the responsibility of state and local agencies to verify applicants’ immigration status and report potential violations of federal immigration law. Furthermore, individuals applying for asylum are ineligible for public benefits until an asylum order is granted. The bill requires a three-fourths vote of each legislative chamber for its provisions to take effect.
