Bill overview
Senate Bill 1475 changes Arizona law to allow school district governing boards to restrict student participation in interscholastic activities and programs if a student has been convicted of, or is charged with, certain criminal offenses. Specifically, students convicted of aggravated assault, harassment, stalking, sexual exploitation of a minor, domestic violence, or incest are prohibited from participating until charges are resolved. The bill also clarifies that juvenile court orders related to these offenses do not automatically disqualify a student from civil service applications or appointments.
