Bill overview
Senate Bill 1511 modifies Arizona’s commercial driver licensing regulations to address the status of nondomiciled commercial drivers. It requires these drivers to provide proof of lawful immigration status or lawful presence in the United States when operating a commercial motor vehicle in Arizona. If a driver cannot provide this proof, a civil penalty will be imposed, a citation issued, and the incident reported to the issuing jurisdiction and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The vehicle may also be impounded until the charges are resolved, with the owner responsible for impoundment fees.
