By: Martinez Fischer H.B. No. 1250 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT related to making the Texas Insurance Commissioner an elected office. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Sec. Sec. 31.022. of the Texas Insurance Code is amended as follows: APPOINTMENT; TERM. (a) The commissioner is elected for a term of four years.The governor, with the advice and consent of the senate, shall appoint the commissioner. The commissioner serves a four-year term that coincides with the Gubernatorial election.
