Bill overview
The Less Imprecision in Species Treatment Act of 2025, or the LIST Act, aims to improve the process of removing species from the endangered and threatened species lists. It requires the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service to demonstrate recovery through substantial scientific or commercial data before delisting. The bill also establishes a process for correcting erroneous listings and restricts individuals who knowingly submitted inaccurate petitions from re-submitting them for 10 years. It expands the criteria considered during 5-year reviews of listed species.
