Bill overview
This bill, the Modern GI Bill Act, allows eligible veterans receiving Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to use a portion of those funds to repay outstanding federal student loans. The bill sets a maximum annual repayment amount, which will increase annually based on the Social Security benefit adjustment, and limits the total repayment period to 36 months. It also prevents the transfer of these benefits to another individual and directs payments to the student loan lender.
