Bill overview
This bill, the Case Load Act of 2025, seeks to address an overwhelming backlog of cases in the Federal district court for the eastern district of California. It proposes to authorize the appointment of additional district judges over a three-year period (2027, 2029, and 2031) to alleviate the significant caseload burden currently faced by the court. The bill updates the number of judgeships authorized for the district to better reflect the population it serves and reduce the number of pending cases per judge.
