Bill overview
This bill changes the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to require the Secretary of Agriculture to give the public a 60-day comment period before finalizing new or updated guidance on how states manage the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) quality control system. Currently, the USDA can implement changes without this public input. The bill aims to increase transparency and allow for public feedback on how SNAP benefits are verified and administered by state agencies. An exception exists for urgent situations where the Secretary can issue temporary guidance immediately.
