Bill overview
This bill honors James J. Andrews and William H. Campbell with a Congressional Gold Medal, recognizing their bravery and dedication as the only civilian members of Andrews’ Raiders during the Civil War. The Raiders conducted a daring raid, known as the Great Locomotive Chase, to disrupt Confederate supply lines. Congress is authorizing the award of a single gold medal and designating the Smithsonian Institution to hold and display it. Duplicate bronze medals may also be produced and sold to raise funds.
