Bill overview
This bill reauthorizes the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Program, which helps combat drug trafficking at the local level. It increases the program’s funding for fiscal years 2026 through 2031. The bill also directs the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy to identify and evaluate ‘promising practices’ within the HIDTA program to improve its effectiveness in addressing drug trafficking and related issues.
