Bill overview
This bill directs the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to study how federal grant programs are currently consolidated for insular areas and whether consolidating these programs for Puerto Rico would reduce the burden on its public sector and maximize access to federal funding. The study will examine Puerto Rico’s current funding processes, identify potential grants for consolidation, and assess challenges in accessing existing programs. It also requires Puerto Rican officials to promptly and fully respond to GAO’s information requests.
