Bill overview
This bill establishes a demonstration program to help doctors and other healthcare professionals working in rural areas pay off their student loans. The program will provide payments on eligible loans to individuals who agree to work in a rural health professional shortage area for five years. The program is funded with $50 million annually from 2026 through 2030, and it will not affect the designation of health professional shortage areas during a specific period.
