Bill overview
This bill requires states to create a government efficiency department, agency, or commission to oversee how they use federal funds. Starting in 2026, states must have this entity in place before receiving discretionary federal appropriations, except for funds related to national security. These agencies will be responsible for identifying and reducing waste, fraud, and abuse within state government and submitting annual reports to the federal government detailing their work and recommendations for improvement.
