Bill overview
The Expanding Remote Monitoring Access Act aims to change how Medicare pays for remote monitoring services. Currently, providers must collect data for at least 16 days within a 30-day period to get reimbursed, even if that’s not medically necessary. This bill would lower that requirement to a minimum of 2 days, regardless of whether the patient has COVID-19, and requires the Department of Health and Human Services to report on the impact of this change and recommend a reimbursement model that considers patient needs and costs. The goal is to expand access to beneficial remote monitoring services.
