Bill overview
The Reignite Hope Act of 2025 proposes two key changes to the tax code. First, it creates a new tax credit of $3,500 for ‘critical employees’ – those working full-time in healthcare, law enforcement, or other essential roles – who are employed in designated ‘qualified opportunity zones.’ Second, it makes permanent an increase to the child tax credit, raising it to $3,500 per qualifying child (or $4,500 for children under six) and expanding the age limit to 17, while also increasing the refundable portion of the credit for certain taxpayers.
