Bill overview
This bill, the Venue Named Under Exception Act, changes where criminal cases can be tried when crimes occur on federal property in the National Capital Region (D.C. and surrounding areas in Maryland and Virginia). It requires these cases to be filed in the offender’s last known residence, or in D.C. if that’s unknown. The bill also allows defendants to request a transfer of the case to a district where they currently live, with certain limitations.
