Bill overview
The Transportation Equity Act re-establishes the Transportation Equity Committee within the Department of Transportation. This committee will provide independent advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Transportation on issues related to transportation equity, including how transportation impacts economic opportunity and community revitalization. The committee will also evaluate the Department’s existing efforts and develop a strategic plan to improve transportation metrics and address disparities across communities. A full-time coordinator will be appointed to support the committee’s operations.
